APPE PIE RECIPE

DOUGH

– 300g of flour

– 1 teaspoon of baking powder

– 100g of powdered sugar

– 1 pinch of salt

– 200g of cold butter

– 1 egg

– 1 egg yolk

APPE FILLING

– 800g of apples

– 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

– lemon juice

– 50g of sugar

DIRECTIONS

First, let’s prepare the dough. Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with salt, sugar and baking powder. Sprinkle cubed butter over the dry ingredients. Use your fingertips to work the butter into the dry ingredients until it becomes crumb-like. Add the egg and yolk and quickly knead the ingredients into a dough. Form into a ball and wrapp in transparent foil. Put it in the refrigerator for at least 60 minutes.

Peel the apples and cut them into quarters, removing the cores from them. Then cut them into thin slices, put them in a bowl, sprinkle with lemon juice, add sugar and ground cinnamon. Gently mix the apples so that the slices are evenly seasoned.

Grease a round pie dish (diameter 26 centimeters) with butter and flour (remove excess flour). Roll about 2/3 of the chilled dough into a thin circle on a lightly floured work surface. There should be enough dough to cover the bottom of the pie pan. With your fingers, gently press it against the bottom and the rim, and then pierce it with a fork in several places.

Place the apples on the dough, squeeze them lightly if they are very juicy.

Make rolls or strips from the rest of the dough and place them over the apples so that a net is formed. Bake the pie in an oven heated to 180 degrees Celsius for about 40 minutes.
